Rain. And lots of it. I’ve never been so glad to have a cabin.
We spent the morning either in the cabin or in the rec room of the campground. We did laundry and had a frank conversation with a man who wants to do a southern tour ride. We inventoried our rain gear ahead of our trip into Silver City after lunch. I found my ghetto rain pants which are so big I hope they don’t fill with water if I need to ride with them.
Ankur dropped us off in Silver City at the bike store. I found a new water bottle and some straps for the ankles of the rain pants. From there we wandered down Main Street. Silver City has a vibrant downtown and we landed in the Little Toad Creek Brewery for lunch. A bride and groom came in and it didn’t cause much of a fuss. It did delight us no end.
We did a little sightseeing on our way back to the car. We saw a replica of the cabin were Billy the kid lived with his mom and also a wine festival which we gave a miss as you had to purchase a glass and we had no idea how we would continue to carry that along with us. Plus we only had half an hour and $20 for a half hour glass of wine seems like a bad deal.
Back to the KOA to dry out tents and get ready for tomorrow’s adventure. The weather apps are not in agreement but we expect to get wet. Luckily, it’s just 18 miles. I replaced my back light with a bigger one in hopes of being more visible. Yesterday was really scary.
We finished the day with pizza and a fire. There was much laughter and a it was a nice way to end a rest day.

Things I learned today:
- When they say “the jalapeños aren’t hot” they are lying.
Thank goodness for a rest day. Hope you get some clear skies! How will you possibly eat enough to be able to sustain your weight? I'm sure a lot of your clothes no longer fit. Take care. Stay safe. Debbie
